Rosemary, Cinnamon and Honey Fig cake !


I usualy have bad memories with food, and figs won’t be the exception!  Warning for the sensible hearts, you really don’t wanna know what I used to think about figs…
But I’ll tell you anyways 😀  When I was a child, my aunt used to scare me using figs… She invented a whole story saying that inside figs are living thousands of worms. Silly me, I beleived her … Since then I’ve never dared to eat them.
But things have changed, now, I’m waiting every year for figs’ season… And guess what foodies? Figs season has come !!!
I can’t wait to show you the recipe of this amazing “Rosemary, Cinnamon and honey Fig cake” !


For the Cake

  •  2 1/2 cups Flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2 tsp fresh rosemary
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 2 tsp grated orange zest 
  • 6 tbs butter
  • 1/4 cup oil
  • 2 large eggs 
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tsp vanilla sugar

For the Topping

  • 2 tbs butter
  • 12 figs
  • Pinch of salt and black pepper
  • 1/2 cup honey

  • First, preheat the oven; 
  • Grap a big bowl and whisk together chopped fresh rosmary, orange zests, sugar, butter and oil… Then add the eggs, beat it well then add honey.

  •  When the mixture is combined, take the dry ingredients and add it to the mixture alternating with the milk.Keep whisking for 2 minutes. 

  • Now grease the pan with butter and top it with some flour then pour the batter in it. Cook the cake for about 40 min.                                                                                 Meanwhile, prepare the topping; Melt Butter into a pan and add the quaterned figs, season it! Let it cook on medium for 3 to 4 min then stir in Honey and remove from heat. 

When your cake is ready, cool it down then pour the topping on top of it and sprinkle some glazing sugar if you want to !
